After several weeks of programming and designing, the highly anticipated (that may be slightly exaggerated...) videogame for the Atari 2600 Video Computer System, Dragon Defense, has finally been released! Creating Dragon Defense has certainly been a labor of love, so its only fitting that it be released on Valentines Day. Ya...thats why I spent the day programming...
In Dragon Defense, you assume the role of a wizard defending a castle against an army of dragons! By collecting mana potions which are scattered across the battle field, you are able to cast four spells: shield, magic missile, health regeneration, and fortification. You can currently download the game for free (you'll need an Atari 2600 emultor such as Stella or a Harmony Cart in order to play the game) on the Software & Games page of the website, or over on this post on the AtariAge forums:
http://atariage.com/forums/topic/235042-my-first-game-dragon-defense/ In the future I hope to distribute the game on Atari cartridges, but I wouldn't hold your breath. In order to get an idea of what the game is like, you can check out some screenshots below, and be sure to check out my thread at AtariAge to see what others have to say about Dragon Defense! Thanks to all the people over at the AtariAge forums that have helped me along the way, and to the countless friends and family members that have put up with me during the development process. Happy unimaginative, consumerist-oriented and entirely arbitrary, manipulative and shallow interpretation of romance day!
P.S. I may have left an easter egg somewhere in the game...let me know if you find it!
